December 11, 2012- The movie Meet the Newest Beatles, directed by Robert Zemeckis & starred by Daniel Radcliffe, David Archuleta, Allan Leyva, & Jang Geun-suk, was as popular as ever. With only 9 days to go before the international movie release & with the famous four being around the world for the closing tour, MTNB also scored many many nominations for the 85th Academy Awards that will held on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
A recent article on E! Magazine stated that Meet the Newest Beatles can actually claim many awards next year, because of the popularity it gained even if it still wasn't being released. MTNB was also one of the movies that received many nominations, next to the movie Titanic & Lord of the Rings.
The movie was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director & Best Original Screenplay for the Productions. It's also the first time two actors are nominated in a title for Best Actor in a Leading Role for a single movie namely Daniel Radcliffe & Allan Leyva. Daniel Henney was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The movie was also nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing & Best Sound Editing. With the issue of having three songs in a movie for Best Original Song, the movie staff chose Don't Revolve, Change Passenger & Keep as the competing songs originally composed by none other than Allan Leyva himself. They also scored the nomination for Best Costume Design, Best Makeup, & Best Foreign Language Film.
"Those nominations were really a blessing to all of us who worked hard in the movie, & I was so surprised & so happy that we almost got all the nominations for the Academy Awards. Regarding about the Best Actor in a Leading Role, Daniel & I just laughed about it because we didn't expect that the two of us are competing for the title even if we belonged in a single movie. I think if one wins, the other also wins the title." Allan Leyva who won the previous award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in the movie Trifles & Tribulations, said in a statement (Interview from Oprah).
